Florida Memorial University Men's Basketball team (8-4, 5-0 TSC) routs Ave Maria University 96-80 Thursday night at FMU Wellness Center.
In a first half that was relatively unevenly-matched, Florida Memorial opened the game on a 9-3 run. The Lions led by 12 points with 6:44 to play in the first half. The teams went into the locker room with Florida Memorial up by 11 points, 54-43.
Coming out of the break, the Lions continued to pour on the offense at the start of the second half. With 7:44 left on the clock, they were leading by 29 points, 88-59. The team shot 50 percent from the field in the second half, as opposed to 55 percent in the first. The Lions also shot 71 percent from beyond the arc and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe in the second half. Florida Memorial out shot Ave Maria, registering 52 percent from the field to Ave Maria's 44 percent, while out-rebounding their opponent by a 44-24 margin.
Charlie Nedd-Araujo led the Lions with 21 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal, while
Davon Williamsscored 18 points, 8 rebounds, and had 3 assists.
Jaelyn Johnson-Coston poured in 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and
Kody Williams chipped in 11 points.
Florida Memorial Lions will return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 7
th, when they travel to Webber International University with tip-off at 4:00pm
