Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team got their third conference win of the season against Keiser University 78-71.With the win, the Lady Lions stand at 3-2 in conference play and 7-5 overall.
In the first half, Florida Memorial and Keiser University exchanged baskets for the first seven minutes of the game. Florida Memorial was able to make a run and stretch its lead to 8 points 26-18, but Keiser was able to regroup and cut the lead to 5 heading in the half 40-35.
In the second half, the Lady Lions came out of the locker room on fire; Florida Memorial went on a 15-5 run. With FMU leading by as much as 16 points, with less than 5 minutes to go, Keiser made a run and was able to cut the lead to 8 points, but the Lady Lions came back with a roar and made baskets down the stretch to win the game 78-71. Florida Memorial out-shot Keiser 45 to 42 percent, while out-rebounding their opponent 39-27. The Lady Lions shot 35% from the three point line.
Abreona Cabell led the Lady Lions with 32 points, 11-22 FG shooting (5-6 free throw shooting) and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ashley Henry poured in 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Brittney Howard contributed 10 points.
The Lady Lions return to the court Tuesday night (Dec. 19th) when they host Concordia University for a 7:00 p.m. tip off.
