Florida Memorial University women's basketball snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday night in front of a packed crowd at FMU's Wellness Center. The Lady Lions picked up their seventh Sun Conference win of the season over Thomas University with a score of 75-52.
Florida Memorial spread the ball around in the first quarter and played good defense to close out the first quarter of play up 26-18. After battling back and forth through the second quarter, the Lady Lions headed into the break with a 35-22 lead.
Florida Memorial stretched its lead against Thomas in the third quarter, as both teams exchanged baskets throughout the quarter. Florida Memorial outscored Thomas 19-12 in the final quarter of play and pulled away with a 23 point win.
The Lions shot 41 percent for the game and also made 12-of-29 from the free throw line. Thomas shot 37 percent from the field and were 7-of-11 from three.
Danielle Bailey led the Lady Lions with 23points and 3 rebounds, while
Ashley Henry added 20 points, 16 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Abreona Cabell also poured in 20 points.
The Lions will return to action on Saturday, February 3
rd, when they welcome Johnson and Wales University with tipoff at 2 p.m.
