Florida Memorial University women's basketball team came out attacking early and never looked back on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Lions took away a 77-54 win over Webber International University.
Florida Memorial jumped out to a 19-11 lead after the first quarter of play, but Webber was able to rally back in the second quarter. Florida Memorial continued to spread the ball around in the second quarter, but despite being outscored by Webber, 15-8, Florida Memorial had a 27-26 advantage at the half.
Florida Memorial continued to stretch its lead against Webber in the third quarter going up as much as 18 points, 57-39. The Lady Lions outscored Webber 17-14 in the final quarter of play and pulled away with a 23 point win.
Florida Memorial picked up 22 of their 57 points off Webber's 26 turnovers. The Lady Lions held Webber to only 25 percent from the field (16-of-63) after Webber struggled from beyond the arc, going 4-for-15 (26 %) from downtown.
Abreona Cabell led the Lady Lions with 29 points and 14 rebounds, while
Ashley Henry finished in double-figures, picking up 14 points and 9 boards.
Victoria Jones added 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Danielle Bailey also poured in 9 points and 2 steals.
The Lady Lions will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 11
th, when they welcome Ave Maria University with tipoff at 6 p.m.
