The FMU Lions (0-11-1, 0-7 TSC) have been working hard in women's soccer all season.
Their record may not show just how hard they have been working but the proof is on the field. On Friday night the Lions took on the Conquistadors of Florida National University (1-9) looking for their first victory of the season.
During the sixth minute of the match Isabelle Martins finds the back of the net, on a free kick, for the Conquistadors, to open up a 1-0 lead. Things did not look good for the Lions as they only had four shots on goal and a total of six fouls in the first half.
During half-time FMU's Coach Marino Torrens Jr. made some adjustments that made an immediate impact for the Lions. They increased their shots on goal to six and limited the Conquistadors shots to four. During the fifty-ninth minute, Diavana D'Casare assisted
Lovely Placide as her shot penetrated the goal and tied the score at 1-1.
At the end of regulation the score would remain tied 1-1 and the action would continue into over-time.
Adriana Rosero would make two spectacular saves during the first over-time period to keep the Lions tied at 1-1. During the second over-time with two seconds left FMU's Jazmin Rosas would take a shot that was saved by the Conquistadors Briana Gomez to end the game with the score 1-1.
Catch the Lions at home on Oct. 17th, at 4:00 P.M. against Ave Maria at Vizcaya Park.
