Lions Lose a Conference Match to Webber

Florida Memorial University (10-11, 3-9 TSC) keeps their head up high after losing to Webber International University Warriors (20-4, 12-1 TSC). 

Webber came into the match as the number one team in The Sun Conference with a 12-1 record and Florida Memorial gave them all they could handle. 

The Warriors came out in the first set on a four point run and never looked back. They would build a 20-10 lead when Sammyra Albarran went  to the service line a put the Lions on a five point run. The Warriors would take advantage of a fifty-eight percent side-out efficiency compared to the Lions, forty percent. The Warriors also out hit the Lions in this set with a .231 hitting percentage compared to the Lions .100.

The Lions came out strong in the second set, determined to take the set. Both teams were close as there were 6 lead changes in this set. The Warriors started to separate themselves from the Lions after a service error from Francheska Rivera allowing them to build a 19-14 lead. However, the Lions would not go away, Yulianna Charris went to the service line and had five points and two aces putting the Lions up by one. The Lions would capture the second set with the score of 26-24 and tie the match. 

In the third set the Warriors would build a 16-10 lead when the Lions started to fight back. With the score 21-17 in favor of Webber, FMU decided to make a run and go up by one, 23-22, contributing again to this run was Yulianna Charris with four service points and one ace. The Warriors would secure the third set 25-23 and take a 2-1 lead in the match, taking advantage of the Lions .047 hitting percentage. 

The Lions started off slow in the fourth set as the Warriors built a 4-0 lead but the Lions fought back again and tied things up at 18-18. The Warriors eventually secured the fourth set 25-21 and closed out the match. Leading the way for the Lions were Sammyra Albarran with 17 kills and 5 aces and Jazmin Molina had 22 digs and 11 service points.
