Florida Memorial University women's volleyball (10-12, 3-10 TSC) swept in straight sets by St. Thomas University (10-12, 8-5 TSC).
The Lions looked lost as the Bobcats of St. Thomas University came out strong and aggressive in the first set. They would build a commanding 15-5 lead in the middle of the first set and not look back. The Bobcats captured the set 25-13.
In the second set the Lions would fight to keep the score close but never had the lead. With the score 14-10 in favor of STU, the Lions would go on a 4-1 run and the Bobcats called a timeout to stop the Lions momentum. STU would go ahead 18-14 after the timeout and not look back as they captured the set 25-22.
In the third set the Lions would come out slow again as STU would build a 14-4 lead. The Bobcats aggressive serves kept the Lions offense out of system as they had a .071 hitting percentage and scored eight aces in the match. The Bobcats are on a five game winning streak while this loss makes it three in a row for the Lions.
The Lions will be on the road as they travel to Coastal College of Georgia on Saturday, Oct. 27th, at 2:00 P.M.
