Florida Memorial University (10-12, 3-9 TSC) swept by College of Coastal Georgia (17-11, 9-5 TSC) in volleyball.
The Lady Lions came out in the first set determined to compete but the Mariners had other plans. With the score 6-7 in favor of Coastal Georgia, the Mariners sent libero Yoleris Rios to serve. She went on a four point run to put the Mariners ahead 11-6 and they never looked back. They captured the first set 25-18.
The Lady Lions in the second set again came out determined to compete. However, this time, it was Coastal Georgia's Alexis Downey's eight point service run that allowed the Mariners to cruise to a 25-19 win in the second set.
In the third set, Coastal Georgia put on even more pressure on the Lady Lions as they built a 22-14 lead. Yulina Charris got a kill as she was assisted by
Francheska Rivera and that side-out allowed Charris to go to the service line. Charris would go on a five point run to get the Lady Lions to within four points, 19-23. But that was not enough, Coastal Georgia would capture the next two points and the win.
The Lady Lions were led by
Gerti Bineva with 6 kills and
Jazmin Molina with 20 digs.
Catch the Lady Lions at home on Wednesday, Oct. 31st, at 7:00 P.M. as they take on Johnson and Wales University and honor
Jazmin Molina for Senior Night.
