Florida Memorial University men's basketball team started the 18-19 campaign by hosting the Tigers of Edward Waters College on Saturday night.
The Lions came out strong to start this game but Edward Waters had other plans. The Tigers took advantage of the Lions miscues early in the first quarter. A missed jumper here, a steal there, and the Tigers jumped out to an 18-8 lead after ten minutes of play. The Lions would chip away at the lead and stay within striking distance but the Tigers would score in bunches and make it hard for the Lions to get any kind of rhythm offensively. The first half would end with the score 37-32 in favor of the Tigers.
After half-time adjustments, the Lions were poised to turn things around but the Tigers went on a 19-7 run to start out the second half. Again the Lions would try to stay within striking distance but their 35% shooting compared to the Tigers 54% proved to be the difference as Edward Waters would capture the win with the final score, 79-64.
The Lions were led by
Jordan Collins with 21 points.
