The Florida Memorial Lions men's basketball team (1-1) took on Johnson University of Florida (0-2), Saturday afternoon at the FMU Wellness Center.
The Lions jumped all over the Suns as they led wire to wire. The Lions opened up a 20-4 lead to start the first half and earned their first victory of the 2018-2019 campaign. The victory also marks the first career victory for Florida Memorial University's head coach
Ansar Al-Ameen.
The Lions were led by
William Phelps' double double, 13 rebounds and 16 points.
Esdras Jean and
Nehemiah Darrett combined for 27 rebounds and
Jordan Collins led all scorers with 20 points.
The Lions will be on the road next Wednesday, Nov. 7th, at Voorhees College in South Carolina, at 4:00 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 9th, at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville.
