FMU Losses The Battle of Miami Gardens to St. Thomas University in Men's Soccer

Florida Memorial University (1-7, 1-4 TSC) dropped a heartbreaking men's soccer match in "The Battle of Miami Gardens" to St. Thomas University (4-5-2, 3-1-2 TSC) on Saturday night.

The goal keepers for both teams were kept busy as there was plenty of action at the net. St. Thomas took 11 shots on goal and FMU had 15 shots on goal. STU's goal keeper, Mike Marx, earned the shut out with eight saves. FMU's goal keeper, Andres Espinosa kept STU out of the net during the first half and had a total of 4 saves in the match.

During the sixty-second minute of the match, Lasse Lahrtz assisted Nicolo Dallomo who found the back of the net for St. Thomas which resulted in the only score of the match.

For the Lions, Mauricio Rodriguez took a shot on goal during the seventy-ninth minute but Mike Marx preserved the shut out with an amazing save that pushed the ball just passed the top crossbar. The Lions kept pushing as Luis Martinez-Flores took another shot on goal. This shot, during the eighty-third minute, missed the top of the goal by a matter of inches.

Probably the most exciting play of the game came with just thirty seconds left in regulation. FMU found the back of the net!!! What appeared to be a game tying goal was nullified by the officials for off-sides, resulting in a loss for the Lions.

The Lions will travel to Ave Maria University on Saturday, October 13th, at 1:00 P.M.

GO LIONS!!!!
