The Tigers of Edward Waters College were too much to handle as they defeated Florida Memorial University on Friday night, 91-62.
The road trip ended in a loss for the FMU Lions men's basketball team as they traveled to Jacksonville to take on Edward Waters College. The Lions came out strong as
Eugene Harvey scored the first 6 points for the Lions to open up an 8-4 lead. After back to back three pointers the Tigers took the lead 10-8. The Tigers would build a 16-10 lead but the Lions were able to claw their way back to tie the score at 20-20. The Tigers would hit another three pointer, the lead, and the momentum to take a 38-27 lead into the half.
In the second half the Tigers would hit another three pointer and would not look back. They would use the momentum to put the Lions away. The Tigers allowed the Lions to only score 35 points in the second half while scoring 53 points. The Edward Waters Tigers would play aggressive offense and suffocating defense to build a 91-62 lead to capture the victory.
The Lions would shoot 38% from the field and 52% from the charity stripe. They were led by
Dwight Wheatley with 10 rebounds,
Jordan Collins and
Jordan Martin combined for 21 points.
