Knights Roll Past the Lady Lions

The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (5-4, 1-0 TSC) traveled to West Palm Beach, FL to participate in the Thanksgiving Classic at Keiser University, and took on 4th ranked Knights of Marian University (8-1).

The Knights led from the opening tip-off. The Lady Lions were outmatched against the 4th ranked Marian University Knights, who came into the tournament looking to make it five wins in a row. On Wednesday night, the Lady Lions played a physical and gritty game in which they defeated Xavier University but they could not repeat the same performance on Friday night as they they were outscored by almost 40 points against Marian University. The final score in this contest was 54-92.

Although the Lady Lions held the Knights to only 18 points in the first quarter, they only scored 7. They shot only 23% from the field and 10% from 3 point land. The Lady Lions were able to score more points in the second quarter (19 points) but gave up a total of 28 points to the Knights. The score at halftime was 26-46 in favor of the Knights.

The third quarter was even worse for the Lady Lions as they gave up 31 points and only scored 17. The final was a 38 point differential in favor of the Knights of Marian University. The Lady Lions committed 21 turnovers which led to 33 points for the Knights. The Lady Lions were out outrebounded 50-33 and only shot 33% from the field and 25% from 3 point land. 

Leading the way for the Lady Lions were Kenesha and Tyesha Battle as they score a combined 21 points and Ashleign Gary had 11 rebounds. 

Catch the Lady Lions on Thursday, Nov. 29th at 6:00 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center against Thomas University.
