The Lady Lions basketball team of Florida Memorial University (2-1) took on Louisiana State University Alexandria (3-1) at the Xavier Classic Tournament in New Orleans.
Unique Tate scored the first two points of the game for FMU and that was the only lead on the game for the Lady Lions. At the end of the first quarter the Generals of LSU Alexandria was in the lead 20-15.
The second quarter was very similar to the first quarter as the Generals played smothering defense and scored points in bunches. The second quarter ended with the Generals in the lead 45-28.
During halftime the Lady Lions made some adjustments and roared back to within nine points but the Generals nine to zero run would open up an eighteen point lead. This would prove to be the decisive run as the third quarter would end with the score 66-49 in favor of the Generals.
The fourth quarter was the best quarter in terms of scoring for the Lady Lions as they scored twenty-four points but they would allow the Generals to score twenty-five. The final score was 91-73, Generals.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions was
Ashleign Gary's double double (11 rebounds ad 19 points) and
Danielle Bailey's double double (10 assists and 11 points).
The Lady Lions will be on the road Friday, Nov. 9th, at 6:00 P.M., at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville.
