The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University volleyball (11-14, 4-12 TSC) traveled to Lakeland to take on The Fire of Southeastern University (21-4, 14-2 TSC) on Saturday.
The Lady Lions were swept by The Sun Conference leading Fire in straight sets. In the first set, the Fire opened up a 5-0 lead and never looked back closing out the set 25-18. The Fire took advantage of the Lady Lions hitting percentage of .075 as they hit .306.
The second set started with the Lady Lions determined to tie up the score. The Fire jumped out to a lead and the Lions roared their way back to tie it up 10-10. But the Fire was too much for the Lions as Avery Bradshaw went back to the service line and took the Fire on a seven point run. They never looked back and closed out the second set 25-13.
In the third set, the Southeastern Fire jumped out to a 7-2 lead and again the Lions roared back, this time behind three straight kills from
Yulianna Charris. The Fire separated themselves again taking advantage of costly mistakes by the Lady Lions. The Fire closed out the third set and the match with the score of 25-18. The loss closes out regular season conference play for the Lady Lions as they finished 4-12.
