The Florida Memorial University Lions (2-8, 1-3 TSC) took on crosstown, conference rival, Johnson and Wales University (0-9, 0-5 TSC) on Thursday night at the FMU Wellness Center.
The Lions entered this game determined to earn their first conference victory of the season and they did just that as they defeated the visiting Wildcats 68-61.
William Phelps scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds. His contributions in the paint proved to be a big factor in the game tonight.
Nehemiah Darrett led all Lions with 12 points. The most impressive of his points was a reverse dunk that brought the crowd the FMU ROARING fans to their feet.
Omar Outar did not have his usual high scoring night but had zero turnovers. With as much as he handles the ball this was an impressive accomplishment and thus allowed the Lions to stay competitive in this game.
With less then 15 seconds to play in the game, the Lions were holding on to a 3 point lead when
Kase Carrera stole the ball and was immediately fouled. Carrera hit his next two free throws and put the Lions up for good.
The Lions will travel to West Palm Beach to take on Keiser University on Saturday, Dec. 8th, at 4:00 p.m.
GO LIONS!!
