Florida Memorial Men's basketball (13-9, 7-8 TSC) defeated Webber International University 92-70 Thursday night in Sun Conference (TSC) action at Sabbagh Athletic Center on the campus of Webber International University.
Florida Memorial raced out to a 25-13 lead to start the game, behind a combination of strong post play and hot shooting from the perimeter. Then, Webber International went on an 11-7 run to cut the Lions lead to 32-24 with 4:51 to go in the half. Florida Memorial answered back with a 13-5 run to close out the half. The teams went to the locker room with Florida Memorial leading 34-29.
In the second half, Florida Memorial built a 53-32 lead at the 17:29 mark when
Evens Jacques converted a three-pointer. FMU held its biggest lead of the game, 60-38, with 15:27 left to play. The Lions shot 34-of-72 from the field (47.2%), 12-of-25 (48%) from three-point range and 12-of-16 (75%) from the free throw line.
Omar Outar led the Lions with 26 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Davon Williams poured in 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Roody Romain contributed 12 points.
The Lions return to the court Saturday night (Feb. 10
th) for Homecoming when they host Warner University for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
