Lions Fall To Webber International

Florida Memorial Men's Baseball Fall to  Webber International  4-3 in the night cap of opening game of The Sun Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

Both clubs exchanged runs in the first inning before the third-seeded Lions claimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the second as Raymond Guerrero lifted a sacrifice fly to left, driving in Argenis Hernandez, who reached on a fielder's choice.

The score held until the bottom of the sixth when the Warriors tied the game as Chris Medina came in to score on a fielder's choice after leading off the inning with a single up the middle. However, the Lions quickly responded in the top of the seventh, retaking a 3-2 lead on Axel Gomez two-out RBI single through the right side.

Again finding itself behind a run in the eighth inning, Webber tied the game for a third time with an Esquivel single to left field scoring Begg, who reached base with two outs after a dropped third strike.

Langston Provitt then won it for the Warriors as he launched a walk-off home run to left field on the second pitch of the bottom of the ninth.

Webber International registered ten hits in the game, and were led by Coleman's 3-for-4 game at the plate. After starting pitcher Juan Terron let up two runs in two innings, Doug Pearl entered in relief for five innings, allowing one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out four Lions' batters.

For the Lions, Sergio Chil's 3-for-4 game at the plate, including his two doubles and an RBI led the way for the Lions. On the mound, Edgar Aparacio struck out four in the loss, pitching eight complete innings before allowing the home run in the ninth, and dropping to 4-3 on the season.
