Lions lose to nationally ranked (11th) Southeastern University 84-95.
The Florida Memorial University Lions (3-17, 1-8 TSC) took on the conference leading Fire of Southeastern University (16-3, 9-0 TSC) on Saturday night at the FMU Wellness Center. The Lions jumped all over the Fire early in the first half, leading by as much as 13 points. With just over six minutes to play in the first half,
Eugene Harvey scored a basket to give the Lions an 11 point lead. With just under three minutes to play, the Fire started to cut the lead into single digits and eventually tied the score at 41-41 right before the half. The Lions shot 41% from the field and 44% from 3-point range in the first half. Leading the way for the Lions in the first half was Charlie Nedd-Araujo and
Eugene Harvey with 12 points each.
In the second half, the Fire turned up the heat and shot 71% from the field, 57% from 3-point range, and scored 54 points. The Lions were able to stay competitive in the second half of this game largely due to
Eugene Harvey's aggressive play as he finished the game with a double double, 16 points and 15 rebounds. Charlie Nedd-Araujo led the Lions in scoring with 29 points on 8-16 shooting from 3-point range. A big difference in this game was the shooting from the charity stripe, the Fire shot 85% while the Lions only shot 46%.
