The Lady Lions traveled just a few block to take on St. Thomas University (16-5, 8-2 TSC) in a game that was labeled as The Battle of Miami Gardens.
The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (13-7, 7-3 TSC) have been in a bit of a funk lately losing three out of their last four games. The Lady Lions were defeated 72-75 in a hard fought contest. They showed a lot of grit and determination but their shooting was just off, they shot 38% from the field and 18% from behind the 3-point arc.
During halftime of this game there was a friendly competition of shooting between The Mayor of Miami Gardens and both FMU and STU Presidents. The initial phase of the competition was won by the Mayor of Miami Gardens. The three men shot from the free throw line, from half court, and from behind the 3-point arc. The total points for the competition were totaled up and FMU President Hardrick won the overall competition and took home the hardware.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions were the Battle sisters as all three of them were in double figures in scoring combining for 48 points.
The Lady Lions will be on at home on Monday, Jan. 20th as they host Voorhees College in the MLK Classic at 2:00 in the FMU Wellness Center.
GO LIONS!!
