Lady Lions Lose Conference Road Game

The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (14-8, 7-4 TSC) suffer a crushing loss to a conference opponent on the road. 

The Mariners of Coastal College of Georgia (14-7, 8-4 TSC) came out firing on all cylinders while the Lady Lions were flat. In the first quarter, the Mariner scored the first 13 points of the game, after leading 0-13 the Lady Lions finally hit a layup. The Lady Lions showed some heart as they fought hard to get back into the game after such a slow start, the score at the end of the first quarter of play was 14-17 in favor of the Mariners.   

In the second quarter, the Lady Lions were able to tie the score at 19-19. Just when things started to look promising for the Lady Lions, the Mariners went on an 3-18 point run with less than 2 minutes to play in the first half. The score at halftime was 28-40 in favor of the Mariners. 

In the second half, the Lady Lions could not find their rhythm on offense nor on defense, while the Mariners kept scoring in bunches. The Lady Lions, in this game, shot 18-82 (22%) from the field and 8-33 (24%) from 3-point range while the Mariners shot 30-65 (46%) from the field and 9-20 (45%) from 3-point range. 

Leading the way for the Lady Lions was Kanesha Battle with 30 points. 

The Lady Lions will be on the road next Saturday, Jan. 26th, as they take on Thomas University at 2:00 p.m. at Thomasville, GA.
