MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Playing against a team that specializes in creating turnovers, Florida Memorial couldn't fight against it – instead giving the ball away 27 times Saturday in an 84-73 loss to visiting Warner University in the FMU Wellness Center.
The Lions (2-5, 1-2 Sun Conference) saw their 42-34 halftime lead slowly dry up in the second half, as the No. 21 ranked Royals turned on a full court press that disrupted Florida Memorial's offensive flow and essentially negated FMU's size advantage in the front court.
Four FMU players scored in double figures Saturday, led by
Mubashar Ali's 16 points. Ali also finished with a team-high nine rebounds, but was one of four Lions' players saddled with four fouls in game that saw 52 total fouls between the two teams.
Freddy Reeves Jr. added 15 points and four assists for Florida Memorial,
Jordan Martin chipped in with 12, and
Jordan Collins finished with 11 points off the bench.
Florida Memorial will have the chance to go into the Thanksgiving holiday with the sweet taste of victory, when it hosts Voorhees College at the FMU Wellness Center on Monday, November 25th.
