The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (16-12, 9-8 TSC) traveled to Lakeland, FL to take on the nation's 4th ranked team, Southeastern University Fire (24-2, 17-0 TSC).
The Lady Lions were looking to play the role of spoiler and spoil the Fire's undefeated record in conference play, but things did not turn out well for them. The Fire jumped out on the Lady Lions early and often. The Lady Lion's only lead in this game was in the 1st quarter with just over four minutes to play, 12-11. Then the Fire got back to work and scored in bunches, the Lady Lions could not keep up. The Fire led by 15 points at the half.
In the second half, the Lady Lions made some adjustments but the Fire was just too much for the Lady Lions to handle. The Lady Lions lost by 33 points, 60-93. The Fire had 5 players score in double digits while the Lady Lions only had 2 players score in double digits. The bright spot for the Lady Lions was the fact that
Brianna Battle was able to return to the line up after missing 7 games due to ankle injury.
Leading the way for the Lady Lions was The Sun Conference Player of the Week,
Kanesha Battle with 23 points and
Brianna Battle had 11 points.
The Lady Lions will be at home against Ave Maria University on Saturday, Feb. 16th at 4:00 p.m.
GO LIONS!!
