The Lions fought hard in this game as they took on conference opponent Ave Maria University on Friday night at Harry T. Moore Field, but we beaten in extra innings by the score of 11-12. 
The 
Gyrenes of Ave Maria took the lead early in the top of the first inning as starting pitcher, 
Christian Rivera allowed 3 walks and one base hit. The Lions of Florida Memorial University would score 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to make it a 2-3 score. The Lions scored those two runs when Francisco 
Quinonez came to the plate with runners on first and second and delivered a double scoring the Lions runners. 
In the top of the fourth inning, the 
Gyrenes would score 3 more runs to take a 2-6 lead. The 
Gyrenes would earn 2 hits and take advantage of a Lion's fielding error to score those 3 runs. The Lions would score 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning as they took advantage of 3 walks and 
Jouseph Renovales hit a double scoring 2 of those 3 runs in that inning. 
The 
Gyrenes would open things up in the top of the 7th inning with a 5-run inning. With the score 6 -11 in favor of the 
Gyrenes the Lions came to bat in the bottom of the 9th inning. The 
Gyrenes needed just 3 outs to secure the victory but the Lions clawed their way back into the game scoring 5 runs to tie the score at 11-11. The Lions would get back to back base hits from 
Pablo Delgado and 
Luis Rivera and Nathan 
Llanes reached safely by a 
Gyrenes' error. With the bases loaded, Joseph 
Renovales delivered an RBI single to get things going for the Lions. The Lions took advantage of 2 errors, 2 walks and earned 4 hits to score the 5 runs that tied the game. 
In the top of the 
11th inning, the Lions would walk the leadoff hitter and a couple of batters later he ended up at 3rd base. Relief pitcher, 
Kyle Parks threw a wild pitch that allowed the 
Gyrenes' runner to score. This proved to be the final score (11-12), the Lions were not able to do anything else in the bottom of the 
11th inning. 
For the Lions, 
Jousheph Renovales continues to be an offensive force as he went 4-5 with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 1 double. 
Pablo Delgado went 3-5 scoring 2 runs. 
Kyle Parks suffered the loss. 
The Lions will play a game 2 and 3 as a double header Saturday, March 
23rd starting at 12:00 p.m.
