The Lions even the series at one game apiece against the 
Gyrenes of Ave Maria University with a 5-3 victory in the first game of the double-header. 
The Lions jumped all over the 
Gyrenes in the first inning when 
Jose Chavez doubled to right field scoring 2 runs. Later in the first inning, the Lions scored another run when 
Luis Rivera hit a single to center field scoring 
Devin Hadley who was on third base. In the bottom of the second inning, Nathan 
Llanes scored another run on a pass ball making the Lions lead 4-0. 
In the top of the 4th inning, the 
Gyrenes would score 2 runs as they took advantage of a couple of wild pitches and some timely hitting. Lions starting pitcher, 
Edgard Aparicio would quickly compose himself and got out of the inning with only allowing those 2 runs. In the bottom of the 7th inning the Lions would add another run. 
Edison Cabrera hit a double down the left field line and advanced to third base on a single by 
Argenis Hernadez. Cabrera would later score from third base on a wild pitch. 
The 
Gyrenes scored another run in the top of the 8th inning to make it a 3-5 ball game but that is all that the 
Gyrenes could do against the dominate Lions pitching. 
Edgard Aparicio earned the victory and improved his record to 4-0 by pitching 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, and striking out 5. 
Christian Suarez pitched 1 and 2/3 innings to earn the save.  
The Lions will look to take the series at 3:00 p.m.
