The NAIA top ranked Southeastern University Fire (39-4, 15-0 TSC) completed the 3-game sweep of the Lions of Florida Memorial University (20-19, 8-13 TSC).
The Fire was in complete control of this game as they led 0-7 after 7 innings of baseball. The Lions were finally able to get a run in the top of the 8th inning when
Yunior Sanchez hit a solo shot over the right field wall to make the score 1-8 in favor of the Fire.
The Lions starting pitcher,
Edgard Aparicio was tagged for 6 runs on 8 hits as he only lasted 3 innings. For the Lions offensively, aside form Sanchez' homerun they only had 4 more hits the rest of the game. The Fire's pitching staff struck out 10 Lion's batters.
The loss drops the Lions record to 20-19 and 8-13 in The Sun Conference. The Lions are currently in the 6th spot of The Sun Conference standings with just a few games left to play before the conference playoffs begin.
The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10th at 3:00 p.m. at FMU.
