MIAMI, FL) -- Florida Memorial University's men's soccer fell 0-3 to St. Thomas University in their home opener, Thursday, August 29.
Located less than a mile from one another, it was a battle because two teams from Miami Gardens as STU came out victorious. The Lions, now 1-1 gave the Bobcats, 1-0, an early season present this game.
After an hour and a half weather delay, both teams were eager to play the game which was easy to tell by their aggressive style of play. From the first whistle both teams gave it their all and within the 10th minute St. Thomas was on the board with the first goal of the game. A little over two minutes later the Bobcats would score again which gave them a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The Lions struggle this game, taking only eight shots compared to 18 by their opponents. Sophomore goalkeeper
Angel Garcia had his work cut for him, collecting eight saves, his highest so far this season. Sophomore
Luis Dos Santos took two shots, the most of any FMU player in the game.
St. Thomas scored its final goal of the game at the 52:46 mark to clinch the win.
The team travels to Lynn University, Thursday, September 5 for a 6 p.m. start.
