(MIAMI GARDENS, FLA) -- Low numbers prove to be a road block for the Lady Lions as they fall 1-15 to the Bobcats from St. Thomas University, Tuesday, September 10.
Entering the match 0-2, the Lions played a strong 12 minutes to start the first half. Great defense by both teams prepared the fans for what they hoped would be an exciting game.
Down two players to start the match, FMU was already at a disadvantage playing most of the game with just nine players. STU scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute and would score five more to take a 6-0 lead.
A chance opportunity was given to the Lions when sophomore
Mariana Rincon lined up in front of the goal for a penalty kick with 1:40 left in the first half. Her successful attempt gave Florida Memorial their first goal of the season and drop the STU to 5-1.
The Lions struggled in the second half, giving up eight more goals to the Bobcats and the game.
Sophomore
Garcy Momplaisir finished the match with seven saves.
They return to action Saturday, September 14 at 2 P.M. The game will be played at FMU's home field Emmanual "Manno" Sanon Soccer Park in Little Haiti.
