Lady Lions Fall To No. 2 Southeastern University Saturday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University fell into an early hole that only grew deeper as the game wore on Saturday, ultimately falling 91-35 to No. 2 Southeastern University in the FMU Wellness Center.

A quick look at the box score tells the story of a night that "just wasn't their night". The Lady Lions (7-8) made just 10 total field goals Saturday, shooting a paltry 18.2 percent from the field. Conversely, Southeastern's Taylah Simmons made 15 of her 20 shots from the field as she finished with a game-high 33 points – just two shy of the Lions' total.

It also didn't help that FMU, which has now lost three straight home games, turned the ball over 29 times Saturday.

Shawnice King led Florida Memorial – which will hit the road to take on Sun Conference foe Thomas University this coming Thursday – in scoring, totaling 13 points in 36 minutes of action. King's baker's dozen was buoyed by her knocking 7-of-9 free throws. Anjelie Tirone pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds, while senior Isis Lane produced well below her normal outputs – finishing with just seven points and nine boards.
