McKay Scores, Lions Fall To Southeastern Thursday

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Memorial University senior forward Lavaughn McKay scored his first goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Lions fell to host Southeastern 5-1 Thursday night at the SEU Soccer Complex.

McKay put FMU (0-4, 0-3 Sun Conference) on the board in the 76th minute when he got his foot on a loose ball in the box and was able to put a hard shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

The goal came, however, once the Lions were already facing a 5-nil deficit. Southeastern (6-3, 4-3), which led 1-0 at halftime, manufactured four second-half goals to pull away from Florida Memorial.

Because of a reshuffling to FMU's schedule, the Lions will have a short break before they're due back on the pitch – traveling to Babson Park, Florida on October 19th to face Webber International University.
