BABSON PARK, Fla. – Florida Memorial University won the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 flight matches to top Sun Conference rival Warner University 3-2 Saturday afternoon in what was a dual-match day at Webber International University's beach volleyball courts.
The Lions also played the host Warriors Saturday, dropping that series 0-5.
FMU (2-6) made a statement with its win over the Royals in both teams' second match of the day.
No. 3 pair
Francheska Rivera and Adriana Santana started the Lions' rally, winning their match in straight sets – 21-5, 21-10. Bianacaliz Cruz and Adrianna Soto followed suit, dominating Warner's No. 4 duo 21-10, 21-12.
With the overall victory on the line, it was
Keisha Santana Roldan and
Azmabeth Infante that clinched the win for FMU after won a hard-fought three-set match 21-13, 13-21, 15-9.
The Lady Lions, who will have nearly two full weeks of rest before they hit the sand again on March 20th at St. Thomas University, barely missed out on winning the series with the Royals 4-1 once the No. 1 flight pair of Jessenia Bonilla and
Rachele Mancinelli was edged by Warner 21-11, 19-21, 13-15.
