MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – If Florida Memorial University wants to make a push to earn a spot in the Sun Conference postseason tournament, it needs to begin this week when it hosts Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Wednesday at 12 p.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.

The Lions will be returning to the pitch after having a week off – having last played this past Saturday. Wednesday's game, which will be open to fans with free admission, will also mark a return to FMU's home field of Dr. Lester Brown Park after the team played its previous home match at Goodlet Park in Hialeah, Florida.

Florida Memorial (1-6-1, 1-3-1 The Sun Conference) currently sits in the No. 8 spot in the conference standings, outside of the top six that will advance to the TSC Postseason Tournament. However, the Lions sit just 1.5 games back of the No. 6 team with three games left to play and could do themselves a huge favor by knocking off SCAD Wednesday as the Bees are currently in the seventh spot.

FMU first-year head coach Daniel Radice has seen that his team can play a solid brand of soccer, able to generate scoring opportunities with adept passing and athleticism to create fast-break opportunities.

Junior center back Michael Del Gaudio and midfielder Johan Godoy have shown themselves to be potent scoring threats while the team has also gotten shot contributions from a handful of other players – including Maximilian Dreger, who's first goal of the season this past week gave the Lions a brief advantage on No. 4 Keiser University.

SCAD should present a significant challenge to FMU this week. The Bees have shown themselves to be a defensive-minded team that has become comfortable playing in close, low-scoring games. Aside from SCAD's three wins this season, all its other games have been decided by no more than a two-goal margin and has played to five ties, including a scoreless tie against St. Andrews University.

Because of the contrasting styles, it'll be imperative that Florida Memorial gets on the board early and puts SCAD in chase mode opposed to allowing the game to remain close throughout.
