MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's men's soccer program will be looking to bounce back from its first conference loss of the season this past Wednesday and pull off an upset of visiting Southeastern University Saturday afternoon at Goodlet Park in Hialeah, Florida.

The Lions' home match this weekend will be played at an off-site venue as their home field – Dr. Lester Brown Park in Miami Gardens – was unable to accommodate FMU's women's-men's home soccer doubleheader Saturday. The women's match is set to kickoff at 11 a.m. and the men's match will kickoff 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.

Florida Memorial (1-4, 1-1 The Sun Conference) hung tough with No. 8 St. Thomas University this past Wednesday – falling just 2-1 to the nationally-ranked foe. The Lions hoped that Michael Del Gaudio's 77th minute goal would be the spark it needed to rally back, but the clock became just as big an opponent as the Bobcats were over the final 13 minutes.

Still, the spirited effort against St. Thomas should've been enough for FMU first-year head coach Daniel Radice to feel confident in his squad heading into the weekend showdown with Southeastern – a team that enters Saturday's game having six of its previous seven matches.

The Fire have shown themselves to be an offensive-potent group – totaling 28 goals across their nine matches this season.

Southeastern's Eduardo Venutolo leads the team with 5 goals and 3 assists this season and will be the main defensive target for the Lions Saturday. FMU will need to keep a body – or two – on Venutolo and communicate effectively to aid goalkeeper Jesus Tovar.

FMU will also need to find its own offensive rhythm to be successful Saturday. When the Lions have looked their best, it's been when Johan Godoy, Artur Barros, Del Gaudio, and Luis Constantini have pushed tempo and threatened defenses with their quickness and ball-handling.

A victory for Florida Memorial Saturday would also be the third time in what will be the team's eighth all-time meeting that the Lions topped the Fire, as SEU leads the series 5-2.
