MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – While there's still plenty of season left to be played, this is the time of year where teams begin to take peeks at the conference standings as they jockey for position and a potential postseason tournament berth.

Florida Memorial University is no different as it will be looking to capture a big win this weekend in order to stay in the thick of the Sun Conference standings race when it travels to face Webber International University Saturday morning at 11:30 at WIU's Warrior Grass Field.

The Lions (1-4-1, 1-1-1 The Sun Conference) are currently tied for the fifth spot – among nine teams – with Southeastern University, whom Florida Memorial tied with this past Saturday.

That tie with the Fire was more bitter than it was sweet, however. FMU clung to a 3-2 lead after Johan Godoy netted a goal in the 72nd minute. A physical and emotionally charged game, Southeastern took advantage of a pair of late yellow cards on the Lions and tied the game in the 87th minute.

Worse yet, Florida Memorial head coach Daniel Radice was ejected from the game against the Fire – resulting in a 1-game suspension, which he will serve this weekend.

The Lions will be out to "win one for the Gipper" when it takes on a Webber International University team that has earned just one win in its past four games. During that span, the Warriors played Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) and Warner University both to 1-1 ties and dropped a 2-1 game to Southeastern on Sept. 29. Webber's win came this past Wednesday when it defeated Thomas University 2-1.

FMU's offense has been buoyed by Godoy this season. The junior midfielder leads the team in goals (5) total shots (16), and points (12) – and will likely be the focus of the Webber International defense. If Godoy does draw extra defenders, it could open shooting lanes for Michael Del Gaudio, Artur Barros, and Luis Silva – the team's next three leaders in total shots.

The Lions defense – anchored by goalkeeper Jesus Tovar – will need to communicate and do its best to clear the ball out the box as to limit the Warriors' chances at picking up a cheap rebound goal.
