Florida Memorial MBB Unable To Upend Warner University Thursday

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Florida Memorial University dropped consecutive games for the first time this season following its 86-57 loss to host Warner University Thursday night at WU's Turner Athletic Center Gymnasium.

  • The game began as a see-sawing battle, with the teams trading slim leads before playing to a 25-25 tie.
  • Florida Memorial took a 33-27 lead following an Aubrey Washington three-pointer with 4:32 left in the first half.
  • The Lions' lead was cut to 37-36 at halftime.
  • Warner University closed the first half on a 4-0 spurt that continued through the early part of the second half and became an elongated 11-0 run with 16:15 left in the second half.
  • FMU went cold from the field as the Royals stretched its lead through the rest of the second half and handed the Lions the lopsided loss.

  • Florida Memorial's Holcombe had his streak of consecutive games scoring at least 20 points snapped at four after his 5-point performance Thursday.
  • The Lions ended up shooting just 32.8 percent from the field (20-of-61) and 29.7 percent from three-point range (11-of-37).
