FMU WBB Rallies Back From Late Deficit, Tops Keiser 73-66 Saturday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University showed its heart, resilience, and defensive prowess as it rallied from a seven-point deficit over the final two-and-a-half minutes of the game by holding visiting Keiser University scoreless over that stretch to capture a 73-66 victory Saturday in the FMU Wellness Center.
 
How It Happened
  • Florida Memorial trailed 66-59 after a Taylor Jones layup for Keiser with 2:43 left in the game.
  • Chantel Barnett singlehandedly started the rally with a three-pointer followed by a tough layup in the paint to cut the deficit to 66-64.
  • Keiser turned the ball over and FMU turned it into points on a Tolbert and-1 layup, which gave the Lions a 67-66 lead.
  • The Lions forced another turnover on the KU ensuing possession, which Aliyah-Deen Ahmad turned into a breakaway layup to put FMU up 69-66 with 57 seconds left.
  • KU's final four possessions included two missed three pointers and two more turnovers.
  • Keaynna Tolbert and Barnett each sank a pair of free throws to give the Lions their final 73-66 advantage.
  • Keiser University went on an 8-1 run earlier in the fourth quarter to erase a 55-54 Lions lead and put FMU into a 62-55 hole.
  • Florida Memorial lead 31-28 at halftime and clung to a 51-49 lead at the end of the third quarter.
