Leguizamon Leads, Florida Memorial WBB Routs FNU 79-47 Tuesday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Natalia Leguizamon scored a career-high 22 points and Chantel Barnett added 20 points off the bench as Florida Memorial University cruised to a 79-47 win over visiting Florida National University Tuesday night in the FMU Wellness Center.
 
How It Happened
  • After leading by just two (16-14) at the end of the first quarter, FMU held Florida National to just 17 total points through the second and third quarters to expand its lead.
  • The Lions turned up their defensive intensity, creating turnovers that lead to easy transition scoring opportunities.
  • FMU started the third quarter on a 14-1 run to push its 37-24 halftime lead to 51-25 after Monique Esbrand free throw.
  • Florida Memorial opened up as large as a 33-point lead late in the third quarter.

  • Leguizamon led all scorers with her 22 points. She also tied Hanifa Neal for the team-high rebound total with 8 and recorded a game-high 5 steals.
