FMU WBB Extends Conference Winning Streak, Tops Thomas Thursday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Junior guard Natalia Leguizamon scored 22 points for the second straight game as Florida Memorial University cruised to an 84-51 win over visiting Thomas University (Ga.) Thursday night in the FMU Wellness Center.
 
How It Happened
  • FMU wasted little time taking control of the game, jumping out to an 8-0 lead that eventually became a 19-5 advantage midway through the first quarter.
  • The Lions' lead ballooned to 32-13 by the end of the first quarter thanks to Leguizamon's three-point shooting.
  • Florida Memorial remained the aggressor on defense, pressing and trapping the Night Hawks' ball handlers – ultimately forcing 26 turnovers.
  • After leading by 27 at halftime, Florida Memorial pushed its lead to as many as 41 midway through the fourth quarter.
  • Four different FMU players recorded double-digit point totals Thursday.
