MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's beach volleyball team will return to the sand Wednesday – after having its schedule altered due to health and safety protocols – when it hosts Sun Conference foe Ave Maria for a head-to-head match on the FMU Beach Courts.

Wednesday's match, which is set to begin at 4 p.m., is a makeup of the postponed tri-duel that was rescheduled from its original March 13th date. The Lions (2-1, 2-1 The Sun Conference) were supposed to travel to face Ave Maria and Warner University this past weekend, but instead will host the Gyrenes (3-1, 3-1) Wednesday and will host the Royals next Wednesday (March 24) for single head-to-head matches.

FMU is champing at the bit to return to the sand – especially its home sand – after the extended respite, which also included the cancelation of a pair of games. The Lions loss it first match of the season – also their first-ever home beach volleyball competition – on March 6th, being narrowly edged 3-2 by Webber International University.

Sun Conference preseason "Pair To Watch" Agustina Busque and Adriana Soto took care of business and remained undefeated as a pair this season with their performance against the Warriors a week and a half ago while the duo of Azmabeth Infante and Olivia Dodd played some of its best volleyball this season to pick up a win in their flight.

As Florida Memorial looks to avoid a two-game slide, it welcomes an Ave Maria team that has won its past three matches. The Gyrenes have knocked off Warner, St. Thomas University, and Southeastern since opening the season with a loss against Webber International and will battle with the Lions in a match that could very likely determine the No. 2 seed in the conference standing ahead of March 27th's Sun Conference tournament.
