Lady Lions Topped By Division-I Opponents At Panther Beach Battle

MIAMI – Florida Memorial University took on a pair of NCAA Division-I opponents Friday in the first day of the Florida International University Panther Beach Battle tri-duel – dropping both matches.

The Lady Lions fell 0-5 to the University of North Florida in their first match of the day and suffered an identical fate (0-5 loss) when it faced off against host No. 13 (NCAA national ranking) Florida International.

Though Florida Memorial (2-4) was unable to win any of the five flights in either match, it did receive solid efforts from its pairs. No. 1 flight pair Azmabeth Infante and Olivia Dodd was able to push North Florida's No. 1 pair – scoring 12 points in both games.

Keisha Santana and Adriana Soto had the highest single-game point total for any of FMU's pairs in the match against the Ospreys, notching 14 points in the second game of their match at the No. 2 flight.

It was Sammyra Albarran and Alanis Santana that had the highest single-game point total against the Panthers when they scored 13 on FIU's Giada Bianchi and Rachele Mancinelli, who played for Florida Memorial's 2019 indoor volleyball Sun Conference Tournament championship team.

The Lady Lions will return to the FIU Sand Courts Saturday for another pair of games, taking on Florida International and North Florida at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
