MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's men's soccer team will hit the road Wednesday, traveling to Miami Shores, Florida to face NCAA Division-II opponent Barry University at BU's Buccaneer Field.

The Lions return to the pitch after an extended respite due to the cancelation of their September 2nd home match against the University of Fort Lauderdale. FMU has had more than two weeks to regroup and retool following their season-opening 2-1 loss at Florida National University on August 24th.

Florida Memorial first-year head coach Daniel Radice did see a fair share of good things from his team in the previous game. Johan Godoy scored the team's first goal of the season, living up to his billing as a Player to Watch – which he was named by the Sun Conference during the preseason.

Defensively, while Jesus Tovar did yield a pair of goals against the Conquistadors, he did rack up 7 saves and showed flashes of being a defensive stalwart as the Lions' final line of defense.

In Barry University (0-1-1), FMU will be facing a team that has historically been a thorn in the Lions' paw. The Buccaneers have come out of the season gates slow this year, dropping their opener 4-0 to FMU's Sun Conference constituent St. Thomas University back on Sept. 2 and playing Florida National to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 4.
 
Florida Memorial hopes that the extended preparation time will be the difference as it looks to earn its first victory of the 2021 season.
