Lake scores twice in Lions 3-2 road victory over Warner

Geovannie Lake scored 2 goals and produced 1 assist in the victory

LAKE WALES, Fla. | The FMU Lions (3-7-4, 2-3-2) won their second straight game, this time over Warner by the score of 3-2 at the Warner Soccer Field in Sun Conference competition.

FMU broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute when Darian Crespo found striker Geovannie Lake for the first goal of the match. The Lions led 1-0 at the break before giving up the equalizer in the 56th minute. However, Lake scored his second of the match and fifth this season with a go-ahead goal in the 70th minute with an assist from Brad Tulley.

Substitute Johan Godoy would eventually score the match winner in the 79th minute on an assist from Lake. Despite giving up a late goal in the 86th minute, FMU had to generate a victory to stay alive in the playoff hunt, and did exactly that.

FMU goalkeeper Joshua Aranzazu finished with six saves and allowed two goals in the victory.

Florida Memorial returns to action on Tuesday, November 1 as they travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face Southeastern in conference competition. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
