MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial produced four scorers in double-figures and snapped a 4-game losing streak in a 98-77 victory over the Virgin Islands. The win lifts the Lions to 4-4 overall.
FMU trailed by eight points as the Buccaneers opened the game on a 10-2 run. The Lions responded 22-14 run to tie the game at 24-24 before taking a six-point lead into halftime.
Florida Memorial was led by Cam'Ron Wilson, who tied a game-high with 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 from downtown. Teammate Tavin Pierre-Philippe filled the stat sheet with 13 points, six assists, five boards, two steals and one block while fellow Lion Teonta McKeithen chipped in with 11 points.
Wilson nearly finished with a double-double as he produced eight boards and one block in the victory.
As a team, the Lions missed only two free throws all night (16-of-18) while their counterpart missed a total of 10 shots from the charity stripe (14-for-24).
The Florida Memorial bench dominated the bench of the Virgin Islands, outscoring them 68-7.
The Lions return to action on Sunday, November 27 as they host the Virgin Islands in a rematch. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
