FMU Lions produce 5 scorers in double-figures in 95-81 victory over Virgin Islands

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial produced five scorers in double-figures en route to a 95-81 victory for the second day in a row over the Virgin Islands. The win lifts the Lions over .500 as they advance to 3-0 on the season against the Buccaneers.

FMU guard Tariq Humes led the Lions with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field, including three assists, three steals and two rebounds, while teammate Tavin Pierre-Philippe finished with 13 points and connected on seven of his eight free throw attempts. Teammate Cam'Ron Wilson was impressive on both ends of the floor, nailing 5-of-6 shots, including 2-for-2 from downtown, totaling 12 points. He also generated five rebounds, three blocks and one assist in just 13 minutes of action.

Post-player Jordan Watkins contributed to the Lions success for the second-straight night, scoring 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and added three boards in the victory while fellow Lion Teonta McKeithen chipped in with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field.

As a team, the Lions shot over 50 percent from the field (35-of-69) while the Buccaneers shot just under 44 percent from the field (29-of-66).

The Lions return to action on Thursday, December 1 as they travel to Thomasville, Ga. to face Thomas in Sun Conference action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
