FMU (5-5, 0-4) held on in the first half and trailed by just one point at the break behind
Teonta McKeithen who finished with a team-high 22 points and connected on 4-of-6 from downtown. Christian Taylor produced the teams' only double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 boards in 30 minutes of action.
Late in the second half, the Lions led 74-72 following a bucket from McKeithen. However, Florida Memorial was outscored 7-0 in the final 1:37 of the ball game.
Miles-Jordan Smartt was solid from the field as he buried 6-of-7 shots, generating 14 points while teammate
Tavin Pierre-Philippe added 12 points in the loss.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, December 3 as they face Coastal Georgia in game two of their Georgia road trip. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Brunswick, Ga.
