BABSON PARK, Fla. | Florida Memorial dropped a non-conference contest in game one of the SSAC Challenge by the score of 76-69 to Stillman College at the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
Aliyah Deen-Ahmad produced a game-high 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field while connecting on all seven free throw attempts. Chantell Barnett was the only other Lady Lions to score in double-figures as she finished with 16 points, also connecting on all of her free throw attempts (6-for-6). Deen-Ahmad added four rebounds, four steals, three assists and one block in 38 minutes of action while Barnett produced four boards, three assists, two blocks and one steal.
FMU held a one-point lead at the break, but Stillman finished the third quarter with an 18-13 run. The Lady Lions responded, making a run as they cut the lead to just three points late in the fourth quarter. However, the Lady Tigers held on despite a valiant comeback from the Lady Lions, who fall to 1-1 on the season.
As a team, FMU scored 25 points off 25 Stillman turnovers. Overall, the Lady Lions hit 21-of-27 free throw shots and generated 25 points off the bench.
The Lady Lions return to action on Saturday, November 5 as it faces Loyola in game two of the SSAC Challenge. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. at the Sabbagh Athletic Center at Webber University.
