Lady Lions struggle against Loyola in game 2 of SSAC Challenge

BABSON PARK, Fla. | Florida Memorial fell to Loyola in game two of the SSAC Challenge by the score of 103-72 at the Sabbagh Athletic Center. Chantel Barnett led FMU with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and buried 5-of-8 three-pointers. She also grabbed six boards and dished out two assists with two steals before fouling out of the contest.

The Wolfpack jumped out to a 28-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The second quarter was nearly identical as Loyola outscored FMU by 10 points and led 53-30 at the break.

The Lady Lions improved play in the third quarter as they were outscored by just two points, but couldn't erase the deficit before the final whistle.

FMU's Jamari Tillman finished with 14 points and two rebounds, converting 5-of-6 from the charity stripe while teammate Quameerah Peterson- Gray chipped in with nine points and four boards in the loss.

As a team, Loyola won the rebound battle 54-31 and scored 56 points in the paint compared to FMU, who scored 24. Overall, Florida Memorial shot less than 33 percent from the field (23-of-70) while the Wolfpack connected on over 50 percent of its shots (35-of-66).

The Lady Lions return to action on Thursday, November 10 as they host Florida National in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
