Florida Memorial WBB Couldn’t Topple No. 1 Southeastern Saturday

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Memorial University set a new season-worst mark for turnovers Saturday as it fell 88-58 to No. 1 Southeastern University in SEU's Furnace Gymnasium.
 
How It Happened
  • FMU found itself down by as many as 34 midway through the fourth quarter before shaving a bit off the deficit in the final minutes.
  • The Lions didn't have their best shooting night, ultimately shooting 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field and 28 percent (7-for-25) from three-point range.
  • Southeastern pulled away from Florida Memorial in the middle second quarter – going on a 14-2 run over the final five minutes of the period to take a 42-21 lead into halftime.
  • The Fire also went on a 15-0 run from the final two minutes of the third quarter through the first minute and a half of the fourth to stretch its lead out to 31.
  • Florida Memorial had just two players finish with double-digit points.

  • Sophomore Chantel Barnett led the Lions with 14 points.
  • Aliyah-Deen Ahmad was the other FMU player hit double digits, as she finished with 11 points in 31 minutes.
