Florida Memorial Baseball Rallies, Takes First Game Of Weekend Series At Warner University

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Florida Memorial University put on its rally caps Friday, scoring four runs in the top of the ninth and shutting out Warner University in the bottom inning to come away with a 8-5 victory in the opening game of its weekend series against the Royals.
 
How It Happened
  • FMU trailed 5-4 heading into the top of the ninth after Warner University took advantage of a pass ball to take the one-run advantage.
  • Rohandry Javier started the Lions' rally in the ninth, getting on thanks to a walk then stealing second.
  • Javier came home a Yunior Sanchez groundout – tying the game at five.
  • The Lions took the lead on an Axel Gomez single to left, that brought Joseph Figueroa home.
  • FMU would tack on four runs in the top of the inning, scoring the final two runs on a wild pitch and a Jensy Doval single.
  • Joselito Baez shut the door on the Royals in the bottom of the ninth, forcing two groundouts and a strikeout.
