FMU Beach Volleyball Drops Two At South Pod Duel Saturday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's road to a potential repeat as the Sun Conference Champions has had some early bumps as it dropped two games Saturday at the South Pod Duel, losing to University of Mobile (Ala.) and William Carey University (Miss.) at Ave Maria University's Beach Courts.

The Lions dropped its first match of the day to Mobile 3-2 and took a step backwards in the day's second match – taking a 4-1 loss from William Carey.

Florida Memorial head coach Marrita Crockett-Moulton did some tinkering with the order her pairs this weekend – electing to move the duo of Caroline Moreira and Biancaliz Cruz up to the No. 2 flight from the No. 4 flight it played at in the season-opening matches.

The move didn't change the results as Cruz and Moreira remained undefeated as a pair, winning its respective matches against William Carey and University of Mobile.

The pair of Agustina Busque and Maria Rodriguez seemed to take a step forward – even in defeat – playing William Carey's pair the full three sets before falling 13-21, 21-17, 11-15.

Up next for the Lions will be a bit of a respite; they will be able to iron out any kinks on the practice courts for just shy of two weeks as they won't play a regular season match until March 12th, when they face Ave Maria University at St. Thomas University.
